The 32-year-old has signed a two-year contract that will see him swap City for Barcelona until the summer of 2025.
With the transfer, Gundogan will play for the Catalans next season, bringing an end to his seven-year successful stint in England.
Following the confirmation of the transfer, Gundogan’s teammate De Bruyne has written to his former teammate.
The Belgian midfielder admitted that he will miss the German superstar in a message on his social media account.
“More than a teammate! Thank you legend,” De Bruyne stated on the post. “Gonna miss you at this club. But you leave with all the memories together.”
Meanwhile, in a related development, Gundogan’s contract at Barcelona includes an interesting clause.
According to a post by Barcacentre through a Spanish journalist, Gundogan can also leave the Catalans even before kicking a ball at the club.
The German and the club have reportedly agreed to insert a clause in his contract that could allow him to cancel his contract before the close of the current transfer window.
