Kenya international Eric Johana has inked a promising two-year contract with Romanian Super Liga outfit FC UTA Arad, making a decisive move from Thai side Muangthong United.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder showcased his prowess in the recent Thai season, netting ten goals and delivering three crucial assists in 28 appearances.

The transfer sees Johana donning the number 24 jersey for UTA Arad, a shift from the number 19 he wore at Muangthong.

The announcement was made by the club as they warmly welcomed the talented midfielder to Arad, emphasizing his role in bolstering the squad led by head coach Mircea Rednic.

In a statement, the club expressed, "Striker Eric Johana Omondi arrived in Arad today and will join the team led by Mircea Rednic. Omondi will wear the number 24 jersey for the next two seasons. We wish him a welcome and as many goals as possible for UTA!"

Born on August 18, 1994, in Nairobi, Kenya, Johana commenced his football journey in his homeland with Mathare United.

His European venture began in the Swedish championship, where he played for Vasalunds IF, Brommapojkarna, and Jönköpings Södra.

His footballing odyssey also took him to Belgium, representing Beveren, before making the move to Muangthong United in Thailand in July 2022, where he left an indelible mark with an impressive goal tally.

The Romanian club has been reinforcing its squad, with Johana joining the ranks alongside Ghanaian attacker Godberg Barry Cooper, who became part of the UTA Arad family in July.
