Following Uganda Martyrs' drop in form, Kawempe ascended to second on the 10-team FWSL log.

It has taken a significant effort after an indifferent start to the 2022/23 campaign.

They have won all their three previous games, including a 5-1 thumping of Rines SS on Sunday, taking over from Uganda Martyrs, who have occupied the second place almost for the entire season.

After 14 outings, Kawempe has gathered 23 points, one ahead of Martyrs and two above UCU Lady Cardinals, who have collected 20 points in third place.

With four games left before the season climaxes, the three teams will fight for the second position, but Kawempe seems to be the outright favourite to grab it.

On the other hand, Asubo Gafford continues to shine at the bottom end of the log as the fight for survival intensifies.

Asubo has won all their previous four games with a 3-2 win over Lady Doves on Sunday, their latest victory.

Gafford climbed from the bottom to seventh with 17 points as they continued running away from the immediate drop.
