Kane surpasses Eto'o, Batistuta in North Macedonia blowout

England captain Harry Kane reached a new high for the Three Lions as he took advantage of North Macedonia’s travesty of a defence to notch a new high with the national team. 

England romped to a convincing 7-0 victory over North Macedonia, and while Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka will dominate the back page discussions after a first career hat-trick, Kane has also managed to write his name further into the football history books. 

England's highest goalscorer of all time increased his lead at the top of the scorer's chart after netting a superb brace against the minnows to bring his international haul to reach 58 goals in 84 appearances for England. 

Kane opened and closed the scoring for England on the night, hitting a remarkable 30th goal in his last 22 internationals with the Three Lions. 

The English marksman has now surpassed Cameroon and Argentina greats Samuel Eto’o Fills and Gabriel Batistuta for international goals, edging him closer to his status as an all-time great on the international scene. 

The Tottenham forward has now scored in each of the last 12 European Championship qualifying games with England, netting 17 goals in the process. 

After a record-breaking season with Tottenham which saw him score in the most Premier League fixtures in one season in the competition’s history, Kane now looks to continue the record-breakng form with England during the international window.
