Newly crowned US Champion Sha'Carri Richardson has revealed the reasons behind tossing her wig before winning the 100m title at the US Championships.
The speedster created a crowd-erupting, unexpected, viral moment before the 100m final when she tossed her orange wig, showing off braided hair underneath.
Spectators at the stadium erupted in amazement, and the moment was regarded as one of the highlights of the championship.

Richardson will later win the race, clocking a swift 10.82s (0.7) for her first national title and securing her spot on the US team to the World Championships in Budapest.

In a post-race interview with @realtalkwithtee on Twitter, the 23-year-old revealed the reasons behind her actions.
"I wanted to show you guys that I'm still that girl but I'm better. I'm still that girl but I'm stronger, I'm still that girl but I'm wiser. So I had to shed the old and present the new."

Richardson will later win a silver medal in the 200m, clocking a Personal Best (PB) of 21.94s behind Gabrielle Thomas, also in a PB of 21.60s - the sixth-fastest time in history.
She will be gunning to make her debut appearance at the World Championships in Budapest a memorable one by upsetting the Jamaicans in both events.
