‘It would be a disaster’ - Ex-Chelsea star warns Blues about Rosenior decision
Pressure continues to mount at Chelsea as doubts grow over the future of head coach Liam Rosenior.
Former defender William Gallas has now weighed in, urging the club’s hierarchy to think carefully before making a rash decision.
Gallas warns against premature sacking
Gallas did not mince his words when discussing the situation, warning that dismissing Rosenior before the end of the season could have serious consequences.
“I think Chelsea’s owners believe they made a mistake bringing in Liam Rosenior, and if they sack him before the summer it would be a disaster for his career in the game,” he said.
The Frenchman also pointed to the club’s recent struggles, including a humiliating defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and another heavy loss against Everton, as factors increasing the pressure on the manager. “A 8-2 loss is very hard to take and then they lost 3-0 to Everton,” Gallas added.
Despite the poor run, he insisted that pulling the trigger too early would only deepen the instability surrounding the club. “It would be difficult to sack him before the end of the season. I don’t think it would be a good idea for anybody… for the manager, it would be a disaster.”
FA Cup clash could decide Rosenior’s fate
All eyes now turn to Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Port Vale, a game Gallas believes could define Rosenior’s future. “They have to find a solution this weekend… you don’t know what the owners are already thinking,” he said.
He further warned of the consequences of any slip-up against lower-league opposition. “It would be a disaster if Chelsea slipped up… If they have a bad result against Port Vale, that would be the end of the manager. The fans would be fuming.”
Still, Gallas backed the Blues to respond, predicting confidently: “If they come to Stamford Bridge, it is different. Chelsea will win 3-0.”
With Chelsea struggling for form under Rosenior, the club’s board might reconsider their stance to stand by the manager until 2027.
