Inter Milan have made their move for Ademola Lookman and want the entire deal wrapped up quickly.
Unlike the drawn-out Teun Koopmeiners saga, the Nerazzurri have given themselves just ten days to complete talks with Atalanta.
Inter push for quick deal to avoid transfer delays
Inter are determined not to repeat last summer’s chaos. With a firm €40 million offer on the table, they’re hoping Lookman’s desire to join will pressure Atalanta into negotiating quickly.
The Nerazzurri believe that €40 million is a fair price, but Atalanta have made it clear they want €50 million. That has prompted talks of a compromise of €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
Inter see Lookman as a key piece for Cristian Chivu’s new-look side, and they want him available in pre-season. They’re prepared to pay the Nigerian international €4 million per season to make it happen.
Inter are also unwilling to include young striker Francesco Pio Esposito in the deal, despite Atalanta’s interest, as they are focused on finalising this transfer on their own terms.
Lookman prefers Inter move, but deal still hinges on Atalanta
The good news for Inter remains that Lookman wants the move. That gives them a strong position in talks, even if other clubs have been circling.
Sky Sport Italia reports Inter are using that preference as leverage, holding firm on their valuation. But Atalanta remain stubborn, and their reluctance to drop the asking price could drag things out longer than Inter would like.
Even so, the deadline is set. Inter want this deal done, and they do not want any more summer sagas.
