'I'm very grateful' - Amorim expresses graditute to continue as Man United manager
The Man United manager had a sit-down discussion with the board to discuss his future at Old Trafford.
Following his discussion, he is set to remain the manager of the team and has made a decision on how he will set up his team next season.
According to reports, he has informed Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club, with his days at Manchester United numbered.
What Amorim said
Days after losing the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham, the Portuguese manager emphasised the importance of taking charge mid-season, succeeding Erik ten Hag, for the club's future.
"I'm very grateful to have arrived six months before the start of a new season. This will allow us to avoid many mistakes that would have occurred next season, preventing a lot of hardship.
"These past few months have been difficult for everyone at the club, with so many changes, starting with the change of manager and the team's playing style. It's been very tough.
"But we have to enjoy the moment, focus on the future, and think positively. We know what we want to do and how we're going to execute it; that's clear because I know how I want my team to play. Now comes the best part, which is trying to change things," he analysed, as reported by Abola.
The former Sporting manager also addressed the potential departures of Bruno Fernandes, with Al Hilal showing strong interest and Alejandro Garnacho, who expressed his disappointment at not starting the Europa League final.
"I'll talk to them, but my focus right now is on the game. I don't know what will happen. We were prepared for plans with and without Champions League football.
"After the season ends, we will analyze all market situations. Returning Manchester United to its former glory will take time. I can't say how many transfer windows or how many years, but we have to raise the level; that's clear," he said regarding the squad changes he hopes to see.
