I tolerated A LOT of things I shouldn’t have — Hakimi breaks silence on his divorce from Hiba Abouk

Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence on his highly publicised 2023 divorce from Spanish-Tunisian actress Hiba Abouk.

The 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star, who shares two children with the 38-year-old actress, opened up for the first time about his experience, the lessons he’s learned, and his personal growth following their split.

Hakimi’s divorce became a viral sensation after reports emerged that he had allegedly transferred all his wealth to his mother, Sadia Mouh, a revelation that sparked widespread discussion on social media.

However, the Moroccan international has chosen to stay silent on the matter—until now, confirming the existence rumours while noting that he had taken the decision years before even dreaming of getting married.

Hakimi appeared on the popular YouTube programme ABTalks, hosted by Anas Bukhash, where he offered a glimpse into the challenges and growth he experienced during and after his marriage.

When Bukhash asked him, “What does love mean to you?”

Hakimi chuckled before responding, “That’s a difficult question,” accompanied by a cheeky laugh.

The Atlas Lions star did not hold back when discussing the lessons learned from his two-year marriage to Abouk.

He said:

“I learned to love myself more, take care of myself more, and take care of the people around me.

“When you are in a relationship, you tolerate many things that you can’t tolerate with other people. I learned that by myself.

“When I was married, I tolerated many things I won’t tolerate now…and I wondered, why did I tolerate these things?”

Hakimi admitted that the experience has been transformative saying:

“That [marriage] taught me a lot and made me stronger, and also made me know what I want. And I know now that if I entered a relationship I can handle it very well!”

Recall that Hakimi’s ex-wife Hiba Abouk had previously branded their marriage ‘a failed project,’ confirming her decision to divorce him while he was charged with the crime of rape in 2023.

Initually, there was speculation that the 12-year age gap between them had caused their romance to hit rock bottom.

However, reports suggested the pair had since separated even before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

And the allegations of rape against Hakimi had forced Abouk to speed up the divorce proceedings and terminate their marriage for good.

Abouk who took some time before breaking her silence on the shocking charges levelled against the footballer, also declared her support for the victim.

However, Hakimi who denied all accusations, later revealed that he was the victim of blackmail and that justice had taken its course.

The divorce saga may have been a tabloid sensation, but for Hakimi, it was a deeply personal journey that shaped his outlook on relationships and self-worth.
