I supported Chelsea because of Eden Hazard - Garnacho says he can't wait to face Barcelona in UCL
Alejandro Garnacho has explained that Eden Hazard was the main reason he supported Chelsea during his younger years, as he completed his high-profile move from Manchester United to Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old winger sealed his transfer to Chelsea, signing a long-term contract until 2032.
Garnacho was present at Stamford Bridge to watch his new teammates claim a 2-0 victory over Fulham, before giving his first official interview as a Chelsea player.
What Garnacho said
Reflecting on his boyhood admiration for Hazard, Garnacho admitted the Belgian icon was one of his biggest influences growing up.
He said, “I loved Eden Hazard. Eden was one of my idols and a big reason why I watched and supported Chelsea a bit when I was younger. He was such an incredible player, playing in the same position that I wanted to, coming inside, scoring goals – he was crazy good.”

Familiar memories at the Bridge
Garnacho also recalled his previous visits to Stamford Bridge, including the time he scored twice against Chelsea while playing for Manchester United, celebrating with his now-famous hoarding leap, a celebration the Blues used for his signing announcement.
The Argentine’s connection with Chelsea goes back even further, with childhood photos of him wearing the club’s training kit resurfacing on social media after his transfer was confirmed.
Garnacho ready for Barcelona clash
Garnacho expressed excitement about playing in the Champions League with Chelsea, highlighting the clash with Barcelona as one he is eagerly anticipating.
The winger joins a Chelsea side looking to challenge both domestically and in Europe under their ambitious new project, and he has promised fans plenty of flair, goals, and passion in the famous Blue shirt.
