'I don't have a competitor' - Nicholas Jackson not afraid of Joao Pedro & Liam Delap
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has revealed that he is not afraid of new strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap at the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea completed the signing of Brazilian international Joao Pedro from Brighton and Hove Albion and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Pedro's transfer fee is reported to be up to £60 million, and the Delap deal is reportedly worth £30 million.
What Jackson said
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has spoken publicly for the first time amid growing speculation surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old Senegal international, who has led the line for the Blues over the last two seasons, finds his position under increasing scrutiny after the club's double summer swoop for forwards Delap and Pedro.
Speaking in an interview with DSPORTS, Jackson dismissed the transfer talk for now, saying, “I am a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there is a change, you will be aware. For the moment, I am focused on my preparation.”
Despite the new signings, Jackson remains confident in his place and views competition as beneficial to the team.
“I don’t have a competitor. We are all here to help the club. Everyone has their role to play. I'm on a mission. It’s up to the coach to make his choices. I only focus on my work," he added.
Jackson has been linked with moves to several Premier League rivals, including Barcelona, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Manchester United.
Newcastle reportedly made preliminary contact and were quoted a fee of £80 million, while United have pulled out due to cost concerns.
Jackson scored 30 goals in 81 appearances since joining Chelsea, and he played an important role in their Conference League and Club World Cup wins.
Chelsea are set to return to pre-season training on August 4, ahead of warm-up games in preparation for their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on August 17.
