The 29-year-old saw his profile grow massively, first at AFCON 2023, and then in the 2025 edition, where his penalty heroics cemented his place as one of Nigeria's best between the sticks.

Despite his rising profile on the continent, Nwabali admitted he has yet to receive a concrete offer since his shock departure from Chippa.

Speaking on Sports Nights Amplified with Andile Ncube, Nwabali emphasized that he is prioritising the right sporting project over a quick decision.

“I can play anywhere I want to play; there is no restriction,” Nwabali said.

“I am open to any club, local or international. Football deals with happiness, and my happiness comes first.”

While local giants Kaizer Chiefs have long been linked with the Nigerian, several international suitors are reportedly monitoring his situation. These include Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq, a move to the Rwandan league, and English Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers (QPR).

A move to London with QPR would represent a significant step up, offering Nwabali his first taste of European football.

Despite the intense speculation, Nwabali clarified that official negotiations have not yet commenced.

“There are no calls yet. The only calls are from my family and friends and people who are shocked at the news,” he revealed.

Nwabali may be eager to test himself in a better league, and certainly has the tools to do so, as he has shown on numerous occasions for the Super Eagles.

However, with Maduka Okoye impressing at Udinese, Nwabali must hope that a new club comes knocking, sooner rather than later.
