Youngster Aboubacar had put the juniors ahead shortly after the break but Ocansey Mandela set up Daouda Camara for the equaliser in the 65th minute. Mandela grabbed the winner nine minutes later.

Camara played full minutes when the Guineans beat Simba 1-0 to win the first match while Mandela came on as a second-half substitute.

Transition

The team’s head coach Kanfory Lapé Bangoura has continued to insist that the club is still in transition but lauds the progress.

“I think that the work we have done is starting to bear fruit,” Bangoura said after the win over the Tanzanian giants.

“We were collective. We did not only defend as a whole but also attacked together. Horoya is now in a small period of transition. We’re playing well defensively.”

The matchday two fixture is scheduled for Saturday 18th at the St. Marys Stadium in Kitende.
