'Fury is gonna be champ for a long time' - Mike Tyson dismisses Usyk as a threat

American former professional boxer has given an assessment of the heavyweight division.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion has backed his namesake English professional boxer Tyson Fury to dominate the division for the foreseeable future.

The 56-year-old made this known while in Saudi Arabia for the big showdown between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury.

All the major contenders in the heavyweight division have already suffered =d defeat and Tyson is of the opinion that Fury would continue to stand out over the coming years.

Fury is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion and is considered the best in the division.

Anthony Joshua already lost to Andy Ruiz and once and twice to reigning IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson acknowledged the strengths of the top contenders but showed more confidence in his ability of Fury.

In an interview with Talksport, he said, “Tyson Fury proved over and over again that he’s the best. I respect Deontay Wilder and Usyk with the most respect I possess."

There have been negotiations about a potential undisputed heavyweight title fight between Usyk and Fury.

Tyson gave an analysis of what the outcome would be as he backed Fury to be able to do what Joshua could not in two attempts.

He said, “I never think anybody’s too small. I just think Tyson’s not gonna do what Anthony Joshua [did]. I think he’s just gonna go out and put a lot of pressure on him.”

Fury is in Saudi Arabia to support his brother to victory against the massive celebrity fight against Paul.
