Former Flying Eagles star Mike Onyemachara dies in Ajegunle
Mike Onyemachara, a member of the Flying Eagles squad who won silver at the FIFA Youth tournament held in Saudi Arabia back in 1989, reportedly passed away on May 4, 2023.
However, when they returned, they discovered that the meal that had been placed at the table for him had not been touched, and that he had passed away.
Although the details of his passing are still unclear as of publication, there are rumors that the talented footballer passed away in his Ajegunle, Nigeria, three-bedroom flat.
Nevertheless, a few of his comrades who were close to him claimed that he had recently complained of back problems.
The defender was a member of the team that eliminated the USA from the 1989 Cadet World Cup final, although the Flying Eagles ultimately fell to Portugal 2-0.
Additionally, he participated in the game against the USSR at the time. The victory in that game was known as the "Damman Miracle."
A talented defender, Onyemachara spent the majority of his club football career with First Bank of Lagos and had a significant impact on the Saudi 89 Flying Eagles squad.
