Cristiano Ronaldo and 4 other top players snubbed in Ballon d’Or nominations
The Nominations for the Ballon d’Or award were released earlier today with several top players making the list.
The Ballon d’Or award ceremony is set to take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on October 30.
However, some players have been left out of the nominations which has caused a lot of steers from many fans.
Players that miss out on the Ballon d’Or list
An unexpected event which has steered a lot of conversations is the omission of some top players from the Ballon d’Or list.
Cristiano Ronaldo who moved from Manchester United to Al-Nassr was omitted for the first time from the nomination list.
Other players who were omitted from the list are Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Manchester City defender John Stones and Chelsea new signing Enzo Fernandez.
Barcelona midfielder Frankie De Jong and AC Milan forward Rafael Leão were also omitted from the nomination list.
The omission of these players came as a surprise to many due to the fact that they performed well for their clubs last season.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Kelvin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and many more made it to the list of nominees.
The winner of the award will be announced on the 30th of October 2023 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
