Cricket Cranes join four other Ugandan senior national teams to qualify for a World Cup in history
Uganda broke a lifetime jinx, qualifying for their maiden T20 Cricket World Cup after a nine-wicket victory over Rwanda in Windhoek, Namibia, on Thursday.
The win against Rwanda made it five victories in six at the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers for the Cricket Cranes to hit the global showpiece slated for the USA and West Indies next year.
Thursday's triumph for the Cricket Cranes made it just five Ugandan senior national teams to ever play at a World Cup, including the Netball team (She Cranes), Rugby Women’s and the Men’s 7s as well as the Uganda Ludo team.

The fact that it's only five Ugandan national senior teams to make it to a world cup across various sports disciplines, makes the Cricket Cranes' milestone even tastier.
It's even worthier celebrating a feat, given the kind of opposition the Cricket Cranes had to get past to reach the feat, as they stunned powerhouse Zimbabwe and trumped arch-nemesis Kenya along the way.
Congratulations Cricket Cranes.

With history staring at the Cranes, the manner with which they handled the pressure that came with the final game against Rwanda is also as commendable as the win itself.
As Rwanda struggled on the day, the Cricket Cranes affirmed their strength and might to eventually distinguish themselves as one of the finest national teams in Uganda ever.
Each of Simon Ssesazi, Dinesh Nakrani, Alpesh Ramjani, Riazat Ali Shah, Bilal Hassun, Brian Masaba and others, as well as coach Jackson Ogwang has been a revelation in achieving a once-in-a-lifetime feat.
