The Blues, who recently replaced Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior, have struggled to find their feet, having lost at home to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup.

They have also failed to get a win in the EPL in their last five games, with their last victory coming against Everton.

However, they broke the jinx following a 2-0 win against Brentford, reducing the pressure on the new manager.

New manager Rosenior made five changes from the team which lost 3-2 at home to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Cole Palmer and Reece James return from minor injuries to start for Chelsea.

Brentford manager Keith Andrews made eight changes from the 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday last week in the FA Cup.

The visitors took the game to the host and created chances, but failed to take the lead. However, Chelsea, who have hardly created any chances, got their first attempt and Joao Pedro converted.

In the second half, Brentford had a lot of attempts to restore parity. but could not convert their chances; instead, they gifted the Blues a chance to extend the lead from the penalty spot after Kelleher’s mistake.

Palmer, who has not scored for a long time this season, stood to take the penalty and slotted it past the goalkeeper.

Chelsea went on to hold on to their two-goal advantage and secured a 2-0 win, returning to winning ways.
