Benzema's first goal of the night, from the penalty spot, took him to 229 goals and ahead of Madrid legend, Raul Gonzalez. He is now second only to Cristiano Ronaldo (311) in the Real Madrid all-time LaLiga scorers list.
He added another goal on the night to take his league tally for Los Blancos to 230 which now puts him just four goals off Mexico's Hugo Sanchez in the top 5. Sanchez played for both Real and Atletico Madrid.
"Karim is a player who isn't just a forward, he's a complete player, he combines well with his teammates, players like Rodrygo tonight, he's always ready in the penalty area and he helps us a lot in possession," Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said of Benzema after his latest milestone.
Benzema is behind Hugo Sanchez (234), Athletic club legendary forward Telmo Zarra (251), Cristiano Ronaldo (311) and Lionel Messi (474).
