Arsène Wenger collaborates with PFA to launch new degree course for academy players
It is the first degree provided by the PFA Business School in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth.
The newly launched programme offers players jobs in football and other businesses off the field.
It is a typical three-year undergraduate programme made to accommodate football players' hectic and unique schedules.
Wenger joins hands with PFA
According to Versus, the PFA and Wenger have developed a new project that gives young players an opportunity they might not have otherwise had, and the course is a game-changer.
Players released from academies have historically received little assistance as they learn to live outside of football.
Current players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jeremie Frimpong have started initiatives to support these players.
However, the PFA's decision to integrate a carefully thought-out degree course into the academy system is a significant step forward in giving young players the support they need now and soon.
The course will include practical courses as well as study for the FA Talent ID & Scouting Certificate, the UEFA B Coaching Licence, and the FIFA Agent Licence, providing students with a broad range of professional prospects and a strong skill set upon graduation.
