Arsenal vs Southampton: Solace Chukwu slams ex-Man City stars for 'dropping stinkers'
Pulse Sports Nigeria Senior Editor Solace Chukwu has slammed Arsenal duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus following their performance against Southampton on Friday night.
Zinchenko and Jesus were in action as Arsenal survived a scarce from bottom club Southampton during their Premier League clash at the Emirates.
Both former City boys were underwhelming as the Premier League leaders dropped two more points in the race for the title.
The Gunners scored two late goals to earn a share of the spoils following a 3-3 draw in the crucial league battle.
Speaking after the match, the Pulse Sports Senior Editor, who is also an Arsenal fan, went in hard on the new signings, who he accused of dropping stinkers against the Saints.
“Much made of how the Manchester City imports were powering Arsenal's mentality for the title push,” Chukwu said in a tweet on his official social media account.
“But both Zinchenko and Jesus – the latter most acutely – dropped utter stinkers tonight,” he added.
Arsenal drop more points
Premier League leaders Arsenal seem to have fumbled the title bag just when it mattered most after extending their poor run to three matches.
The Gunners have now drawn each of their last three matches in the league, dropping six points in the race for the title having played two more games than their nearest challengers, Man City.
Former Gunner, Theo Walcott came back to haunt his former employers as he was one of the scorers on the night for the Saints.
Carlos Alcaraz gave the Saints a shock lead in the first minute before former Gunner, Theo Walcott doubled their advantage 13 minutes later.
Gabriel Martinelli pulled one back heading into the break but Duje Caleta-Car restored Southampton’s lead just after the hour mark.
However, despite the efforts from former Gunner, Walcott and his Saints teammates, it was not enough to give the bottom club all three points as Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka scored two late goals to save Mikel Arteta’s blushes.
