The 4-time Premier League golden boot winner will now lead France U-21 for the qualifying campaign of Euro 2025 and the Olympic Games in 2024.
The French Football Federation (FA) said:
“The FFF executive committee took the decision to appoint Thierry Henry, following a phase of discussions led by a selection committee and on the committee’s recommendation.
“The committee made up of Marc Keller, who is responsible for national selection on the executive committee, Hubert Fournier, the FFF’s national technical director, and Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, studied several profiles of French coaches. The FFF would like to pay tribute to the high professional and human qualities of the various candidates.”
Henry's first test as France Under-21 coach is scheduled for September 7, a friendly against Denmark, quickly followed by a Euro 2025 qualifier versus Slovenia on September 11.
