The players of Kwara United have apologized to the state government, the management of the team, and the people of Kwara after losing Matchday 12 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Kwara United was defeated by Shooting Stars at Akure Township Stadium on Sunday.

Joshua Akpan's last minute goal denied the Harmony Boys at their adopted home ground.

With the defeat, Kwara United have suffered their second home defeat of the season.

The team’s captain, Bamidele Aiyenugba, encouraged his teammates to put the defeat behind them and approach upcoming difficulties with sincerity of purpose, especially in light of the season's goal.

He said, “We had no choice but to apologize for losing this all-important match against Shooting Stars Sports Club, especially considering our position on the table.

“On behalf of the players, I will want to apologize to the state government and also pledge to make up for the lackadaisical display, which ended in our second home defeat of the season.

“We equally want to apologize to the management, led by our Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye. They have done more than enough in terms of welfare and motivation. We sincerely apologize and will henceforth return to winning ways.

With the results, Kwara United are in the eighth position on the table with 12 points from 12 matches.
