AFCON 2025: ‘Will come back with the win’ - Osayi confident that Super Eagles will defeat Algeria
Nigeria enters the match with an impressive offensive record, having scored 12 goals in their last four games.
In contrast, Algeria has been defensively solid, conceding only a single goal on their path to the final eight.
Both teams are set to face each other in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday in a bid to secure a semi-final spot.
What Osayi said ahead of Algeria clash
The Birmingham City full-back believes the Super Eagles have the firepower necessary to dismantle the North African side's backline.
"You are coming against the best strike force in Africa, in my opinion, so we will try and get the job done," Osayi-Samuel told reporters in Morocco.
"We take each game as they come. We know what's at stake, we know Nigerians want us to win this game, and we will do all we can do to win," he added.
Osayi-Samuel emphasised the team's desire to win the match in regulation time, stating that their goal is to avoid the uncertainty of extra time and a penalty shootout.
"I think the aim is to make sure we don't get there first, to try and win before penalties, even before extra time," he explained. "Because if you see the way we started games, we start well and you want to do that against Algeria."
While optimistic, Osayi-Samuel showed respect for their opponents, describing the Algerian team as disciplined and technically skilled.
"Great team, very good team. They haven't conceded. I watched the last game, they are very technical players," he noted. "It will be a game where two great teams are playing, so it will be good football, but I think we will come back with the win."
Meanwhile, former Nigeria international Garba Lawal has urged the Super Eagles to maintain their focus and eliminate errors.
