Osayi-Samuel has become a mainstay in the Nigerian national team, starting two of the country's group stage matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles are now preparing to face Mozambique in the round of 16 of the tournament as they push for the trophy.

The Super Eagles star, who has established himself as Nigeria's first-choice right-back, praised James's versatility and all-around ability.

Osayi speaks highly of James

James has been a key figure for Chelsea, and his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed by the Super Eagles defender. 

“Reece James. He has everything. He's number one for sure, because he just has everything," the Birmingham City player stated in an interview with Elegbete TV Sports. "He can defend, he can attack, he can play as a midfielder, he's got the whole package.”

The former Fenerbahce star also mentioned another legendary right-back as a major influence during his formative years.

“Dani Alves as well. He's someone I watched when I was young," Osayi-Samuel added. "The link-up with Messi, watching players link up with their wingers, was something I loved seeing a lot.”

Reflecting on his club career, the former QPR defender also spoke about the intensity of Turkish football, particularly his time at Fenerbahce.

“It's crazy. I think it's underrated. A lot of people don't know how big it is," he explained. "The rivalry is so intense that I couldn't take pictures with Vic [Osimhen] because he played for Galatasaray. That's how big the rivalry is.”

Despite the fierce competition, Osayi-Samuel holds his former club in high regard. “I think Fenerbahce is the biggest club in Turkey; some people might say otherwise. They show so much love,” he concluded.
