AFCON 2025: Salah’s lone goal sends Egypt to the knockout phase despite playing with 10 men
The Pharaohs head into the game looking confident after securing a 2-1 victory in their opening game of the campaign.
They needed a win to secure a spot in the round of 16 of the competition, but faced a tough side in South Africa.
However, they were able to get past Bafana Bafana following a 1-0 victory despite having a man down in the game.

Egypt were led in the attack by Mohamed Salah, with the manager sticking to his team that defeated Zimbabwe.
The game started with the Egyptians having more of the possession and knocking on the door for the first goal.
However, they had to wait until the 40th minute before getting the first goal from the penalty spot after a foul in the box.
Mohamed Salah took a real chance, but his penalty strike right into the middle of the net fooled Ronwen Williams in goal.
Shortly after, Mohamed Hany was sent off for his second yellow card after committing a bad foul on a South African player.
In the second half, Egypt were pinned back by the South African team, but they failed to get past the Egyptian defence.
The Pharaohs held on to secure a 1-0 victory that took them to the round of 16 of the competition, making them the first team to qualify.
