AFCON 2025: It was frustrating- Alebiosu opens up on injury
Super Eagles star Ryan Alebiosu has opened up on his injury during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Blackburn Rovers defender was part of the Nigerian team that won a bronze medal in Morocco.
The 24-year-old Blackburn Rovers defender made his senior international debut during Nigeria’s 3–1 victory over Uganda in the group stage but injury didn’t allow him to have more minutes during AFCON.
What Alebiosu said
Reflecting on his injury, Alebiosu acknowledged the emotional challenge of missing out on the rest of the tournament but praised his teammates for their support during his recovery.
He said, “It’s a bit frustrating; I wanted to show what I could do at my first AFCON. When it happened, the team came together and helped me a lot, and watching the team win games really boosted my morale.”
Now fully focused on recovery and club football with Blackburn Rovers, Alebiosu remained optimistic about his international future.
“Hopefully, the next chance I get, I will get more of a chance in the squad,” he concluded.
