The team arrived in Morocco with high spirits and head coach Eric Chelle hopes to erase the sadness on the faces of fans with the trophy after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Victor Osimhen: One of the Super Eagles players to watch

Victor Osimhen is widely considered to be the most dangerous striker on the African continent and in the world. He has incredible speed and a very strong finishing ability that makes him a nightmare for any defender. 

He plays his club football in Turkey for Galatasaray and has been scoring goals regularly. A very impressive statistic for Osimhen is that he was the top scorer during the AFCON 2023 qualification series, where he scored 10 goals in just six matches. 

Also, in the current 2025/2026 season for Galatasaray, he has already scored 12 goals across all competitions by December.

Nigeria will rely on his energy and his ability to score from very difficult positions. He is definitely at the top of the list when people discuss the most important players in the tournament.

Ademola Lookman: A Key attacker in the Super Eagles players to watch list

Ademola Lookman has become a hero for both his club, Atalanta, and his national team. He is a very clever player who can play on the wing or as a second striker.

His dribbling skills are excellent, and he has a great eye for a pass. Lookman, in the current 2025/2026 Serie A season for Atalanta, has already recorded three goals and one assist this season. 

He is currently getting back to his best form after the transfer saga left him out of the squad and rusty for some games. He is a vital part of the Nigerian attack and will be integral to their performance in the competition.

Alex Iwobi - Midfield maestro 

Alex Iwobi is the creative engine in the middle of the pitch. He is a very hardworking midfielder who links the defence to the attack with his smart passing.

He has a lot of experience playing in the English Premier League with Fulham, and this experience is very helpful for the younger players in the squad. 

This season, he has scored two goals and provided two assists and he is one of the best progressive passers in the Premier League. 

Iwobi is excellent at moving the ball forward into dangerous areas. His vision allows him to see spaces that other players might miss. Nigeria will need him to be at his best to control the tempo of the games in Morocco.
