AS Monaco have secured the services of one of Europe’s brightest teenage forwards, with 16-year-old Danish striker Ekene Chukwuani putting pen to paper on a professional deal with the French giants.

Chukwuani’s rise from Denmark to Monaco

Chukwuani, born January 7, 2009, has quickly built a reputation as one of Denmark’s most exciting young forwards. Standing at 1.87m, the left-footed centre forward has shown versatility, being equally effective when deployed on the right side of attack.

His natural athleticism, composure in front of goal, and ability to exploit spaces made him a standout performer at Bröndby IF, where he tore through opposition defenses.

During the 2023–24 season with Bröndby U17s, he scored an incredible 25 goals in just 23 appearances, numbers that inevitably drew attention from clubs across Europe. Before his rise at Bröndby, Chukwuani also represented B1973 Herlev and Akademisk Boldklub

On the international stage, he has already made an impression with the Danish U17 national team, scoring twice in just three caps, while also featuring for the U16s earlier in his journey, despite having Nigerian heritage.

For Monaco, the acquisition of Chukwuani, along with Belgian youngsters Matthias Wamu and Daryl Leunga, underlines the club’s commitment to nurturing elite talent.
