James Nnaji joins Precious Achiuwa on the New York Knicks

The complicated preseason deal that the Charlotte Hornets made with the Knicks and Timberwolves is now finalized.

The complete details of the transfer have been made public following days of speculation.

Along with three second-round picks and three sign-and-trade players (Charlie Brown Jr., Duane Washington Jr., and DaQuan Jeffries), the Hornets will send New York their 31st pick in 2023 along with the draft rights to James Nnaji.

With this transaction, Charlotte decided to use their MLE early in the season to absorb substandard salary.

The trade of Nnaji, who hasn't really proven much while playing overseas since being drafted, costs the Hornets some value.

Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop, and 2025 top-13 protected Detroit initially go to Minnesota.

Notably, he was the youngest player selected in the 2023 Draft that was stacked.

Before falling into the early second round, the 20-year-old center from Nigeria was expected to be selected in the first round.

He was regarded as the NBA draft's most physically talented athlete in 2023.

Nnaji is presently in Europe with Barcelona on loan at Girona.

On the Knicks he is expected to team up with Nigerian star Precious Achiuwa.
