After being exonerated of rape, Benjamin Mendy showed up to a neighbourhood kickabout wearing the sky-blue jersey of Manchester City.

The former Manchester City defender was found not guilty of all charges of rape and attempted rape.

On Friday night, Mendy went out to celebrate with friends after the jury at Chester Crown Court cleared his name.

The 2018 World Cup winner then showed up on Sunday at the Pitts complex in Ardwick, Manchester, for a game of soccer with random people.

Mendy returns to the pitch

After two and a half years of not being on a football pitch due to the rape accusation levelled against him, Mendy was seen on the pitch playing football again.

According to reports from the Sun, an onlooker said, "Mendy turned up and asked some lads if he could join in.

"They couldn’t believe it - getting to play against a Premier League star and a World Cup winner.

"He had a laugh and just enjoyed himself and was happy to shake everyone’s hand at the end and sign autographs."

Mendy left Monaco in 2017 and was acquired by City for £52 million on a six-year, £100,000-per-week contract. He was released at the end of June and is currently without a club.
