Richardson, who signed a historic endorsement deal with Sprite, thus becoming the first female athlete in history with the multi-billion dollar brand, joined NBA star Anthony Edwards and Grant Hill as the brand ambassadors for the comeback of the 'Obey Your Thirst' campaign thirty years after its initial debut.

In a newly released personal Ad on the 'Obey Your Thirst' campaign, the world 100m champion said 'nah' to everyone except her grandmother and mother, who she has always said are the bedrock of her life.
"If you’re not Mama or Big Mama, @itsshacarri only has one word for ya... ‘Nah.’"
How Richardson's family propelled her to a global star
Richardson was raised by her grandmother and aunt after facing rejection from her biological mother at a young age.

Three of the fastest women in history Sha'Carri Richardson, Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith, and Julien Alfred will face off at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League on May 25th.
“Without my grandmother, there would be no Sha’Carri Richardson,” she told NBC. “My family is my everything, my everything until the day I’m done.”

During that same interview, she revealed she recently suffered the loss of her biological mother ahead of the important qualifier.
“I’m still here. Last week, finding out my biological mother passed away and still choosing to pursue my dreams, still coming out here, still here to make the family that I do still have on this earth proud,” she said. “And the fact [is] nobody knows what I go through. Everybody has struggles and I understand that, but y’all see me on this track and y’all see the poker face I put on, but nobody but them and my coach know what I go through on a day-to-day basis.”
A few days after the race, Richardson was banned for a month for the use of the prohibited substance marijuana, which led her to miss the Tokyo Olympic Games.
