KCB trounced Oilers while defending champions Kabras eliminated Quins in the semis.

Kenya Commercial Bank and Kabras Sugar will clash at the final of the Kenya Cup slated for Saturday, March 11.

In an entertaining match played at the KCB sports club on Saturday, March , Kenya Commercial Bank played a tactical match to secure a 38-20 win over Menengai Oilers.

In the opening minutes of the match, an attack from KCB saw Darwin Mukidza score a try to put the bankers in the lead with five points clear off the opponent. He, however, could not successfully convert.

Mukidza extended the hot streak by touching down for a try and successfully converted putting KCB 12 points ahead. After the water break, KCB got another seven points courtesy of a try score by Curtis Lilako and successful conversion from Mukidza.

After a hard fought attack, the oilers scored their first try. The joy was short-lived after Max Kang'eri put up a good fight to earn KCB five points through a center post try as Mukidza added two points with a successful conversion. This saw the bankers gain 26 points with the oilers only having five points.

As the match intensified, Peter Waitere of KCB was given a yellow card a few minutes to half time.

In the opening minutes of the second half, the oilers took charge of the game and landed a try to earn five points as Geoffrey Ominde converted successfully. Ominde then earned the team another three points through a successful penalty conversion after KCB dangerously tackled the opponent.

The oilers continued the impressive run after Samson Onsomu touched down for a try through but unfortunately Ominde could not convert successfully. This took the scores to 26-20, in favour of KCB.

KCB then halted the Oilers impressive run courtesy of Samuel Asati who dived to score a try as Mukidza successfully converted (33-20). Michael Kimwele of KCB closed the match with a try score ending the game 38-20.

Meanwhile, in another match played at the Kakamega Showground between Kabras Sugar and Kenya Harlequins, the Quins were off to a good start after Henry Ayah put them to the lead through a penalty. However, Alfred Orege of Kabras changed the short-lived glory to score a try and put the team in the lead.

In the 40th minute, Jeanson Musoga earned the sugar millers five points by scoring a try to widen the gap.

In the second half, the match was highly contested with each side defending to the core. Kabras, however, played a tactical match that saw them touch down for a try and convert successfully. This took the scores to 17-3, with Quins having no successful try. Hillary Odhiambo of the sugar millers then scored another try. The match ended with Kabras winning 22-3.
