Rochester, who coaches English youth rugby side Beccehamian RFC, has been getting to grips with how the KCB rugby club conducts its operations over a one-month fellowship.

English rugby coach Paul Rochester has heaped praise on KCB’s model of operation ahead of the start of the new Kenya Cup season this Saturday.

Rochester, who coaches English youth rugby side Beccehamian RFC, has been getting to grips with how KCB rugby club conducts its operations over a one-month fellowship.

The experienced youth development coach has revealed his “fantastic” experience in Kenya, praising the “overriding passion” that the rugby players in the club have made in efforts to improve their game.

“The experience here in Kenya has been fantastic,“ Paul Rochester said.

“The overriding passion of the boys, the ladies, the men’s teams, just spills out in their training. Everyone has that passion to learn, passion to succeed, and keep on continuously improving.

“I like the camaraderie where everyone works for everyone throughout the team, whether it's a game or it’s a skill set. Everyone is working hard for the team and I think that is very dominant in Kenyan rugby, that has been very pleasing”

Rochester has spoken in glowing terms about how the people involved in rugby are willing to go out of their way to help him settle and get to grips with the ongoings of the place.

“The people have been very welcoming, Kenyans are lovely and I like that everyone will take time to explain, mostly in Swahili (though) which is not my first language, but taking that time to understand the place.

“The technical staff have been amazing, Freddie, Michael, and SNC, all the way to coach Curtis have been very welcoming and it has been an excellent experience. I have learnt a lot.”
