Ahead of the National Sports Festival, Ogun state have confirmed that foreign based athletes will represent the state at the Gateway Games.
The confirmation came directly from the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Wasiu Isiaka, who exuded confidence about the state's chances.
Hon. Isiaka stated emphatically said, "I doubt if any of the top five or six states will arrive without foreign athletes. We are not only ready for them but we are bringing our own too."
While the Commissioner did not disclose the names of the foreign-based athletes joining, there is high tendency that the team will be led by world record holder in the 100m hurdles and the state sports ambassador, Tobi Amusan.
Her participation will undoubtedly electrify the atmosphere and make Ogun State a strong contender in track and field events.
The inclusion of foreign-based athletes has become a recurring theme in the National Sports Festival.
The 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), will take place from May 16 to 30 across different centres in Ogun state.
