"I couldn't defend the middleweight belt. But there are things I did - I was a double champion. He tried [to win a second title] but didn't.
"I'm not worried about that because I think it doesn't matter what classification they give you. What matters is what you do and inspire people.
November 2022 saw Pereira and Adesanya square off in the octagon at UFC 281. Alex prevailed via technical knockout in this fight, which was ended in the fifth round.

Remember that Pereira won UFC 300 on April 14 by first-round knockout over Jamahal Hill?
At UFC 287 in April 2023, Pereira and Adesanya squared off for the second time.
Adesanya won the bout via knockout when it was stopped in the second round. His record stands at 24 victories and 3 losses. Alex's record stands at 10 victories and 2 losses.
