Palmer’s decision to attend the carnival comes at a time when he has been sidelined with a groin injury.

He missed Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over West Ham at the weekend after withdrawing during the warm-up, sparking concerns about his fitness ahead of the international break.

Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed Palmer has been carrying the problem since the opening-day draw with Crystal Palace.

“Cole, in the last four or five days, was not 100 per cent,” Maresca told reporters.

“He tried to warm up but he felt something again. Probably against Palace he was not fully fit but he has been trying to make a big effort for the club, for the team and for the fans.”

Chelsea are reportedly awaiting further tests to determine the extent of the issue, with the playmaker now a doubt for the Blues’ upcoming clash against Fulham.

England manager Thomas Tuchel is also monitoring developments closely, with World Cup qualifying fixtures scheduled in September.

Since arriving from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has established himself as one of the most exciting attacking players in the Premier League.

He scored 22 league goals last season, adding 11 assists, and was named both Premier League Young Player of the Season and Castrol Game Changer of the Season.

While his carnival disguise amused supporters, Chelsea fans will be more concerned about seeing him back in action.

Palmer remains central to Maresca’s plans, but the emergence of summer signing João Pedro could mean increased competition for his favoured No. 10 role once he returns to full fitness.
