‘You are not OK’ - Man United boss Ten Hag slams pundit, claims he is crazy
A few days before the clash against Crystal Palace Ten Hag had cautioned Rashford that if he wanted to move past the difficulties of the previous season, he had to keep up the positive changes in his off-field lifestyle.
The former England striker scored twice in United's 7-0 League Cup midweek thumping of Barnsley, and the manager of United also lauded him.
Despite this, the Dutchman continued to start Joshua Zirkzee rather than the in-form England international, during their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace
Ten Hag furious at Redknapp’s comment
Ten Hag responded to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp's assertion that "there's obviously something that's happened" following Rashford's benching for the draw at Crystal Palace.
Following the shocking absence of Rashford in the starting lineup, Redknapp said, “It feels like something untoward has gone on.
“You don’t drop a player that’s scored two in midweek and one against Southampton. It feels like something has happened this week.”
According to the Sun, Ten Hag responded, saying, “I heard already speculation from some pundits. That is crazy.
“I would almost say that, as a person, you are not OK when you bring such speculation if you don’t know. This has nothing to do with it.
“I’m very happy with Marcus, with everything. With his defending part, offensive, he scores in this moment, he performs very good.
“So there is nothing to do with it that he was on the bench, just rotation. We have many games to cover. We have more than a starting 11 of players. If the players perform, we will give them their chances.”
Manchester United will start preparing for their clash against Twente in the Europa League before facing Tottenham in the Premier League at the weekend.
