Nigerian international Victor Boniface has shared some light-hearted banter with his compatriot Raphael Onyedika as Club Brugge prepares to host Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League fixture this Wednesday.

Club Brugge head into the match at the Jan Breydel Stadium needing a victory to keep their European hopes alive after suffering consecutive defeats in the competition. The return of midfielder Onyedika from injury provides a timely boost for Nicky Hayen's side.

Boniface, who now plays for Werder Bremen, took to Instagram to playfully tease his Super Eagles teammate.

Resharing a video of Onyedika celebrating with the Brugge fans upon his return, Boniface added a caption aimed at the upcoming Barcelona game.

"Champions League next. You got lucky Pedri is injured," Boniface wrote.

The comment refers to the absence of Barcelona's key playmaker, Pedri, whose injury has added to the pressure on Hansi Flick's team as they also find themselves trailing Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

While the Catalan club has welcomed back Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski, Pedri's unavailability forces a tactical adjustment.
