Midfield maestro Christy Ucheibe has stated that the Super Falcons are in high spirit and not even South Africa can stop Nigeria at WAFCON 2024.
Super Falcons and SL Benfica Feminino midfielder Christy Ucheibe has assured Nigerians that South Africa will be no match for the nine-time champions of Africa.
The Women’s African Cup of Nation WAFCON 2024 was initially billed for last year but it was postponed by CAF. However, Nigeria’s female national team are on course for a record tent title and will kick off proceedings with a clash against Tunisia on July 6th.
During an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports Nigeria, rated as a top 10 player for the Women's national team Christy Ucheibe spoke about the readiness of the Super Falcons to impose themselves as the best team on the continent.

When asked how prepared the Super Falcons are for the upcoming WAFCON 2024 to bring joy to Nigerians and finally deliver the tenth title that the nation have been craving, Christy Ucheibe gave an emphatic answer.

She said: “I’m going to say we the Super Falcons are ready 100%. Even during our camp in Osun, we are well prepared for the tournament coming up in July in Morocco. The spirit is high, everyone is high, we just can’t wait for that day to come and let’s kick off the play.”

24-year-old Christy Ucheibe put up a stellar performance for the Super Falcons at the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was on target as SL Benfica's women's team secured a fifth consecutive Liga BPI title in 2025 with an eight point lead over second-placed Sporting Women.
Christy Ucheibe was also quizzed on the level of preparation of the Super Falcons to achieve Mizzion X i.e to win the tenth WAFCON title. She answered “100%” when asked to rate the team’s preparation on a scale of 1-100.
As a followup to her response, Ucheibe was asked if she’s assuring Nigerians that the Super Falcons are going to win that trophy?
“We’re going to do our best. That’s all I can say,” the SL Benfica midfielder responded.

When Pulse Sports Nigeria asked Christy Ucheibe about her thoughts on South Africa, who are already becoming proud that they will beat Nigeria and what plans the Super Falcons have for South Africa because they are the defending champions and they will be out to win again.
In her response, Christy Ucheibe said: We’re the Super Falcons of Nigeria, we are the best in Africa. Ours is just to go there and do our thing as usual. Yeah, they are the defending champions but this time it is a different ball game and everyone is going there to compete and I know by the end of the day and by the grace of God, we will come back victorious.”
In concluding, Christy Ucheibe urged fans of the Super Falcons to come out en masse to support the Women’s national team on their quest for victory in Morocco.
