Chelsea are currently under interim coach Frank Lampard.

Former Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama has urged his former manager Mauricio Pochettino to snub a move to Chelsea and make a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 31-year-old formed a formidable bond with Pochettino that started during their Southampton days before the Argentinian manager roped him in after joining Spurs.

Chelsea have posted an abysmal campaign this season that has seen Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter sacked following a string of poor performances.

Spurs fall in the same boat after parting ways with Antonio Conte and his interim replacement Cristian Stellini was also shown the door after a poor season that is likely to see them miss out on Champions League football.

Wanyama revealed that he shares the sorrow with Spurs fans following the sub-standard season as he encouraged Pochettino to complete his comeback to the North London side.

“I get it and I get how the fans feel and Poch (Pochettino) should be the manager of Tottenham next season not Chelsea.

“I can understand the frustration within the fanbase because they know Pochettino gave every and I believe if there are two offers on the table between Chelsea and Tottenham, then the Pochettio I know will choose Tottenham,” said Wanyama in an interview with London World.

Pochettino has been clubless since being shown the Paris Saint-Germain door at the end of the 2021-2022 season despite winning the Ligue 1 title.

Wanyama is currently in the books of Canadian side CF Montreal after leaving Spurs back in 2020 and has already lifted the Canadian Cup with the side.

The former Celtic FC midfielder opened up on his cordial relationship with Pochettino but revealed that he will still support him regardless of the team he decides to manage.

“To be honest all I want is for Poch to be happy and to get back to doing what he loves the most and what makes him happy, so if he’s happy then I’m happy.

“He will always be a mentor to me and a father figure to me, he showed me the game and improved my game massively.

“And we’ve been through so much together so I can only support him with whatever decision he makes, I know football is strange because you can end up where you don't expect but we are still human after football and it will always stay like that,” added Wanyama.
