Victor Osimhen: Juventus wary of Man United talks, pick Atalanta star as alternative

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen is reportedly causing heartache in the Juventus boardroom ahead of a possible summer transfer

Juventus are keeping a close eye on Victor Osimhen's future but are already preparing backup plans as Manchester United ramp up negotiations for the Nigerian striker.

With a major shake-up expected in their attack next season, the Bianconeri have identified another target as a serious alternative if Osimhen slips from their grasp.

Juventus’ Osimhen dreams complicated by Manchester United talks

Osimhen remains the dream signing for Juventus as they look to bolster their attack for the 2025-26 season, but there are serious hurdles in the way.

According to Tuttosport, the Napoli star on loan at Galatasaray is in advanced talks with Manchester United, and snapping him up would set Juventus back at least €70 million, not to mention a hefty double-figure salary demand.

With Randal Kolo Muani expected to return to PSG and Dusan Vlahovic refusing to extend his deal, the Bianconeri are desperate for a new main man up top.

However, knowing Manchester United's financial firepower and Osimhen’s global appeal, Juventus are treading cautiously and keeping their options open as they cannot afford to be caught empty-handed if Osimhen picks the Premier League.

Atalanta’s Retegui leads the list of Juventus’ alternatives

Realising that the Osimhen deal could slip away, Juventus are already looking seriously at Mateo Retegui, Atalanta’s red-hot striker and current Serie A top scorer.

A deal for Retegui would cost around €50 million, far more manageable than Osimhen’s price tag and with lower wage demands than the Ngerian.

Juventus are also monitoring Ademola Lookman, although he profiles more as a support striker rather than an out-and-out centre-forward.

Other names like Jonathan David, who is available for free but demanding huge wages, and Ipswich’s Liam Delap, who would cost at least €35 million, are also on the radar.
