The FKFPL's matchday one team of the week revealed.

The FKF Premier League has unveiled its team of the week following the opening round of matches that took place over the weekend.

Some standout performers from the week deservedly made their way into the team, which will certainly encourage them to push to make the team on a more regular basis in the remaining 33 matches of the season.

Below is the FKFPL team of the week after matchday one of the 2023/2024 season:

Goalkeeper: Isaiah Wakasala (FC Talanta)

Isaiah Wakasala was on song for ten-man FC Talanta as they battled to a goalless draw against 13-time league champions AFC Leopards on Sunday afternoon.

Wakasala’s acrobatic save to deny Yasin Sije’s towering header in the last minute of the match  epitomized his solid display in between the sticks for the Ken Kenyatta-coached outfit

Right back: Jimmy Mbugua (Tusker)

Stepping in place of Kenyan international Daniel Sakari,  Jimmy Mbugua earned  a place in the team of the week after a superior defensive display against Bandari especially after the team went down to 10-men away at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.

Left back: Timothy Ekhavi (Kariobangi Sharks).

Timothy Ekhavi made the team of the week at left back after a solid display that saw him bomb up and down the pitch effectively as the side drew 0-0 with Kenya Police on Saturday

Centre back: Erick Juma (Muhoroni Youth)

Eric Juma was named man of the match for his solid defensive display against Nairobi City Stars, a game where he was named man of the match.

Center back: Kennedy Odhiambo (Posta Rangers)

A standout performer at the heart of Posta Rangers’ defence last season, Kennedy Odhiambo’s contributions for Posta Rangers in their match against Bidco United where he managed to tame striker Kennedy Ndung’u won him the man of the match award, and a place in the team of the week.

Central Midfielder: Batts Awita (Murang’a Seal)

Batts Awita,  who marked his FKF Premier League debut with a goal, played a pivotal role in Muranga Seal's victory, earning his place in the central midfield.

Central Midfielder:  Stanley Wilson (Kariobangi Sharks)

Stanley Wilson’s ability to dictate the tempo of the match against Sharks, with his eye for progressive passes proved  exceptional during their 0-0 draw against Kenya Police

Right midfielder: Simon Munala (Sofapaka)

Although he played at right back, Sofapaka’s Simon Munala was included at right wing in the FKFPL team of the week after a man of the match performance against Gor Mahia.

Attacking midfielder: Haki Victor (Nzoia Sugar)

On his FKFPL debut, Victor Haki scored the equalizing goal for Nzoia Sugar as they came from behind to beat Ulinzi Stars 2-1 at home.

Left winger: Benjamin Mosha (Ulinzi Stars)

Despite Ulinzi’s defeat, Benjamin Mosha was named in the team of the week at left wing.

Striker: Deogracious Ojok (Tusker)

Ojok’s volley against Bandari was enough to get the Ugandan forward into the team of the week for matchweek one.
