Matano's side could easily have won on another day, creating a flurry of chances but failing to capitalize on them.

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has lauded his team's resilience and determination after the Brewers orchestrated a thrilling comeback from a goal down, securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Kariobangi Sharks at the vibrant Ruaraka Grounds in a pulsating FKFPL showdown on Saturday.

In a match that brimmed with relentless action, Tusker dominated the field, launching waves of attacks that should have undoubtedly translated into a commanding victory on any other day.

Reflecting on the gripping encounter, Matano shared his post-game thoughts, expressing a mixed sentiment of contentment and ambition.

“So far, so good. Although we conceded a goal which was not in our plan, we appreciate the draw because we came from down. It was good and the boys showed character,” Matano said after the match.

Matano voiced his concern over his players not taking their chances, but was generally pleased by the side’s performance, describing it as "just a matter of time.”

“We did not take our chances that is why we have drawn. Sharks did not get any chances but scored with half a chance,” Matano said.

“Sharks did not have many chances. We did not take our chances and that was our undoing in this match.”

“It is just a matter of time. We are doing well so far. We have new players. They have not been playing together and they are gelling up so well. You can see that we are pleased that they have a good run.”

Matano is renowned for being an expert at making substitutions, and his changes played a key part in forcing a draw, with left back Levin Joseph looking particularly sharp as his cross forced Sharks into scoring an own goal to equalize.

Fellow substitutes Eric Kapaito, John Njuguna, Eric Zakayo and Lawrence Luvanda also contributed effectively to secure the draw.

The 59-year-old has hailed the impact his substitutes made in helping the side avoid defeat.

“They did well. That is why they are there. In the second half, I brought in more players so that they could keep the ball in front of the Sharks. They tried but we still need more of that.”

Tusker will face Kakamega Homeboyz in their third league match of the season once the international break is over.
