Transfer News: Victor Boniface offered way out after Ten Hag's sacking
Super Eagles star Victor Boniface could be on his way out of Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer window shuts, despite Erik Ten Hag’s dismissal.
Ten Hag's dismissal changes nothing for Boniface
Boniface’s future has been up in the air all summer, with Ten Hag stating that the Nigerian had no place in his squad.
The 24-year-old did not feature in Leverkusen’s first two league games of the season, including the 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen.
Although Ten Hag has now been sacked, Boniface is still expected to leave Leverkusen before the transfer window shuts.
According to Patrick Berger via Plettigoal on X, fellow Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are considering signing the Nigerian international on a loan deal.

Time is ticking for Boniface
However, it remains to be seen if there is enough time for the deal to go through. The Super Eagles striker was initially close to joining AC Milan on a season-long loan deal, but the Rossoneri opted out of the deal after finding issues with his medicals.
Boniface joined Leverkusen in 2023, helping the side win its first league title. However, despite his successful spell at the club, his time has also been hampered by injuries.
He missed a chunk of games in his first year and last season. The Nigerian international still has three years left on his contract at Bay Arena.
