Transfer News: Arsenal’s new reported target after snubbing Osimhen and Gyokeres
Arsenal have reportedly identified a new centre-forward as a potential alternative to Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres in their search for a top-quality No. 9.
After a disappointing season where the Gunners failed to win major silverware, manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta are actively working to make significant squad additions this summer.
The North London club recognise the need for top-class signings to compete with strengthened rivals.
New striker alternative emerges
Arsenal's primary aim for the summer remains securing a leading striker, and engaged in discussions to sign Gyokeres from Sporting.
Despite the striker reportedly preferring a move to Arsenal over a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, the path for the Gunners was not clear.
Sporting CP rejected Arsenal’s second improved offer of £60 million, holding firm on their demand for the striker’s £85 million release clause to be paid in full, and the firm stance has reportedly led to the Gunners cooling their interest in Gyokeres.
Consequently, Italian media outlets via TEAMtalk now suggest Arteta and Berta are targeting Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
According to those reports, the Gunners are "evaluating valid alternatives," with the Serbia international emerging as a key option.
Juventus reportedly value the 25-year-old at significantly less than Gyokeres, with initial offers around £35-£43 million potentially sufficient, given he is entering the final year of his contract.
The rumours suggest that Vlahovic is understood to be eager for a Premier League move and is reportedly willing to make the switch to North London.
What’s next for Arsenal?
Arsenal hope to finalise more extensions and incomings before the start of pre-season in July.
