Flying Eagles goalkeeper has revealed that they are unstoppable in quest to win U-20 AFCON

Flying Eagles goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt has confidently asserted that South Africa will not stand in the way of Nigeria securing a spot in the final of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The seven-time champions are set to clash with Amajita in a highly anticipated semi-final encounter at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia on Thursday.

This will mark the fourth time Nigeria and South Africa have faced each other at the U-20 AFCON finals, with both nations having recorded one victory apiece, and one game ending in a draw, setting the stage for another potentially tight contest.

Zubairu says the Flying Eagles will be more composed and determined against South Africa.

Harcourt, the shot-stopper for Sporting Lagos, emphasised that having already achieved their initial goal of qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the Flying Eagles' focus has now firmly shifted to lifting the continental trophy.

“We were talking about the ticket to the World Cup before the start of the competition, now we have that,” Harcourt told the team’s media officer, Shariff Abdallah via Complete Sports.

He continued, “Now, the main target is the trophy. I’m very sure we will win the trophy. We will prepare well for the game against South Africa.”

Acknowledging the quality of their opponents, Harcourt expressed his belief in the Flying Eagles' ability to overcome the challenge.

“It’s a good team we have here, the South Africans too are good, but we do our best to win the game," he added.

Harcourt's confident pronouncements reflect the determined spirit within the Flying Eagles camp as they aim to add an eighth U-20 AFCON title to their impressive record and continue their journey towards potential World Cup glory.
