Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi revealed that he almost joined Nottingham Forest in 2023 but the deal fell through.

Alex Iwobi  is having his most productive professional season and is a key component of Fulham's setup after joining from Everton in September 2023 in a deal worth €25.7 million

In 33 Premier League matches, he has contributed significantly with nine goals and five assists.

Fulham are having a strong Premier League season, with the Cottagers having accumulated 48 points and currently occupying 9th position in the league table.

Iwobi speaks on his move to Fulham

In a recent interview reported by Fulham Fan News, Iwobi revealed that his move to Fulham was almost not realised.

He disclosed that he was originally slated to join Nottingham Forest at that time; however, their offer was not substantial enough.

Iwobi said, “There was interest, the main interest came from Nottingham Forest. The manager at the time he called me and asked what I was thinking about joining.

“Ten minutes later, Ola (Aina) has called me and he’s like, ‘Alex, you coming to Nottingham Forest, the manager just called me and said, persuade Alex’.

“I could have been linking up with Ola, but eventually they didn’t put in a bid and only Fulham did, so that was that.”

Alex Iwobi's move to Fulham has proven to be beneficial, as he has become a key player for the club.

This season marks Iwobi's most productive in terms of goal contributions since becoming a professional, a significant improvement largely attributed to Silva's influence.
