Super-Sub, Super Week: How Chukwueze produced 5 chances and a jaw-dropping assist in just 26 minutes to win Baller of the Week

Samuel Chukwueze’s electrifying 26-minute cameo for Fulham in their 1-0 Premier League victory over Sunderland has earned him the well-deserved title of Baller of the Week.

The 26-year-old was one of the standout players amongst Naija Stars Abroad in an interesting weekend for Nigerian players across board.

Entering the pitch in the 64th minute, Chukwueze wasted no time changing the game’s momentum with his creativity, vision, and decisive playmaking.

During his brief appearance, Chukwueze, operating in an unusual left wing role, created five chances, the most by any player that weekend, and delivered a jaw-dropping pinpoint cross that set up Raul Jimenez’s winning header in the 84th minute.

Four of those chances directly contributed to scoring opportunities, showing his rare ability to turn fleeting moments into game-changing impacts.

He also completed the most dribbles on the night, using his pace and skill to disrupt Sunderland’s stubborn defense and open space for his teammates.

Beyond tangible stats, Chukwueze’s influence was evident in the way he commanded the right wing, threading smart through-balls and carrying the ball forward to sustain pressure and invite Sunderland’s defenders out of position.

His superb assist was the icing, showing why he could become an indispensable asset for Fulham, especially as a super-sub who can immediately elevate the team’s attacking threat in critical moments.

Chukwueze’s performance was part of a memorable weekend for Nigerian stars abroad. Defender Chidozie Awaziem produced a heroic zero-to-hero performance in Ligue 1, erasing an own goal with a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser for Nantes.

Meanwhile, Prosper Obah’s brace for LNZ Cherkasy in the Ukrainian Premier League and Joy Omewa’s 21st goal of the season in Denmark underlined the deep and diverse Nigerian talent making waves outside the top European leagues.

For Fulham and manager Marco Silva, Chukwueze’s impact is a reminder of the valuable spark quality substitutes can bring.
