Fresh Contacts Despite Almada's Arrival
Despite the recent signing of Thiago Almada, Atletico Madrid have reportedly reinitiated contact with Atalanta regarding Lookman.
Romano stated that discussions have taken place in recent days with Atletico’s management awaiting greater clarity on the final transfer fee required by Atalanta before making a formal move.
Lookman, currently contracted to Atalanta until 2027, is attracting interest across Europe, but Atletico consider him one of the key attacking reinforcements if more roster exits occur.
Negotiations over the final price have proven tricky, with Atalanta valuing the winger around €50 million, a figure Atletico are continuing to assess.
Lookman’s Spectacular Season at Atalanta
The 27-year-old winger has just completed a standout 2024/25 season that shows why he is so hotly pursued:
Serie A: 15 goals, 5 assists in 31 matches, totalling 20 goal involvements and averaging 0.8 combined goals and assists per 90 minutes.
All competitions: 21 goals, 7 assists, powering Atalanta’s campaigns on both domestic and European fronts.
Atalanta career (3 seasons): 53 goals and over 100 appearances since joining from RB Leipzig, establishing him as one of Serie A’s deadliest wide men.
Lookman’s consistently explosive output has only fuelled speculation about his future, with clubs such as Barcelona and Napoli monitoring his situation.
However, Atletico’s renewed talks suggest Diego Simeone’s side remains strongly positioned, especially if they can move closer to Atalanta’s valuation in the coming weeks.
Will Lookman stay in Bergamo, or will this summer mark the beginning of a new chapter in La Liga?
